Year 6 Leavers’ Assembly

July 21st, 2017

On Friday the 21st of July, we all said a fond farewell to the four Year Sixes leaving for High School. They, and the rest of Diamond Class, presented a wonderful performance of Bugsy Malone, which everyone enjoyed.

The leavers were then presented with a Bible from the church and dictionary from school. We wish them every success in the High School!

On Friday 14th July we went to the church to watch a thatching demonstration. The church is having repairs at the moment and is about to receive a new thatched roof. In English, Mrs Rounce’s Class have been studying Shakespeare’s ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’ and on Friday the 7th of July, the children were lucky enough to watch a travelling Shakespeare company perform the play at Fairhaven Water Gardens. On Tuesday the 4th of July, our Y6 pupils travelled by train to Norwich Cathedral for Norwich High School’s Book Festival. In the morning we listened to Mark Walden and Helen Dennis promoting their series of books before eating our packed lunches on the lawn in front of the Cathedral. In the afternoon we had a very entertaining session with the illustrator Ivan Bates who had us experimenting with different ways of drawing faces. We ended with the author Sarah Mussi before returning back home again.

Year 6 at Pleasurewood Hills

June 28th, 2017

This year on the 28th of June, Year 6 visited ‘Pleasurewood Hills’ for their leavers’ event. We all had a great time testing our nerves on some very scary rides and laughing at the faces we all pulled. We all got very wet on the Log Flume and enjoyed bumping each other on the Bumper Cars.

Thank you to the ‘Friends of Fleggburgh School’ who kindly paid for the trip.

Acle Science

June 22nd, 2017

On Thursday the 22nd of June, Year 5 pupils travelled to Acle Academy for a science morning. The children had a fantastic time. They investigated the different colours that are used to create a black felt tip by using litmus paper. Examined a selection of acid and alkali solutions for their pH scale and looked at the different chemicals that are used to change the colours in fireworks. It was a great morning!

On Wednesday the 21st of June, Mrs Glover took Year 5/6 to Freethorpe Primary School to participate in our cluster’s Kwick Cricket Tournament. We were all eager to win but despite trying our very best, we did not score enough points to be placed in the top three. Mrs Glover said our bowling and batting improved considerably throughout the day.

A visit from the Pastons

May 23rd, 2017

On Tuesday the 23rd of May, we spent a lovely afternoon learning about the Middle Ages. We learned about what life would have been like in Caister Castle and found out lots about life for the local Paston family. We had fun writing with a quill, French knitting, weaving and trying on clothes in the style of that period.
