Stone-Age Story Opener

In English, we have started to read ‘Wolf Brother’ by Michelle Paver. We studied and learned the features of an opening chapter then used what we had learned to write our own opening to a Stone-Age story. Keep looking at the website as we will write the rest of the story later in the team.

Spellings

Every Friday is ‘spellings’ in Diamond Class and on the first Friday back, we were all revising spelling rules from the previous year.

Our Values

Year 5/6 started the term thinking about their personal values. They asked philosophical questions then debate their responses positioning themselves on a line. It really made us think about what we believe!

Year 6 Leavers

Diamond Class performed a fabulous production of Oliver with our Year 6 leavers taking the lead roles. They performed their lines brilliantly and sang wonderfully.

We wish our four Year 6 leavers all the best at High School where we know they will continue to succeed.

Chess Champions

The skills that the pupils in chess club had learned over the year were put to the test in the end of year chess tournament. Well done to all that took part and huge congratulations to James who won! A special thank you to Jamie who ran the club all year!

Bewilderwood

The Year 6 leavers spent a wonderful day at Bewilderwood exploring all the adventure areas and challenging themselves to do activities they were slightly nervous about. The zip wires were their particular favourites!

Oliver

We have learned how to up-level our work by adding expanded noun phrases, and by choosing specific topic related vocabulary. We watched clips from Oliver then wrote our own opening scenes using wonderful description.

Empathy Day

We celebrated Empathy Day on Monday 13th June by learning about how to be compassionate to others. We learned to have empathy to others by wearing our own empathy glasses and writing our empathy resolutions. We read lots of empathy stories and discussed and learned from the issues raised in them. We then wrote our own empathy stories and made them into a book so others can learn from ours. We hope you enjoy reading them!

We Welcome Refugees

The whole school took part in a Norfolk Day of Welcome in June. We watched Michael Rosen talk about his life and learned about his and others experience of being a refugee. We thought about how we would like to welcome refugees and wore non-school uniform to raise £75.00 for Great Yarmouth Refugee and Outreach Support.

Sports Day

We had a wonderful sports day where everyone did their best and took part in a range of races. There were lots of our values like courage, perseverance and compassion being shown during the morning. Well done all.
