In computing this term, the Year 3 and 4s have been developing strategies for finding errors in programs. They have looked at some of the different types of bugs found in coding and have learned that collaboration and resilience is key to finding and correcting these types of problems.
Computing
Sequencing
This term is computing, the Reception children have been focusing on the importance of sequencing by breaking down popular tales and rearranging them. We have learned that stories or events are better told in chronological order and algorithms help us achieve this in computing.
Lego Education
East Norfolk Sixth Form visited school with a Lego workshop and Diamond Class learned to code through playful problem solving.
Parts of a Computer
Today in computing we looked at the physical hardware used to make a computer. In groups we looked at some very strange looking computer parts and tried to guess what they did. We then used our knowledge to match pictures, titles and descriptions of parts that can be found both inside and outside of a computer.
Online Safety
This half term in computing we have been learning how to keep ourselves safe online. We watched the CEOPs ‘Play, Like, Share’ animated series which provided us with knowledge, skills and confidence we need to deal with the risks we might encounter online. We all participated in many meaningful discussions, and tested our online safety knowledge by answering questions and drawing labelled diagrams. We ended our unit on online safety by playing ‘Band Runner’ a fun, interactive game in which we had to help our character make safe online choices.
Talking Books
Year One and Two have been creating a talking book of their own favourite story that they can share with others. We learned how talking books differ from paper-based books, how to record our voices and how to create our characters to use in our stories. We thought they were great and we hope you do too!
